15 People wounded in mass shooting outside funeral home
At least 14 people were shot by gunmen outside a Chicago funeral home after a service for a murder victim on Tuesday night.
There has been a rise in violence in Chicago recently and according to Chicago TV network, CBS2, one woman was shot multiple times while several others have been left in a critical condition after the shooting which occured in the Auburn Gresham area in the southern part of the city..
According to the First Deputy Superintendent Eric Carter, a group of people in a moving SUV, fired shots on mourners outside the funeral home.
According to Eric Carter, several targets of the shooting returned fire leading to the crash of the SUV.
All the victims were adults, according to Carter. The official also stated that 14 victims were taken to five hospitals and 60 shell casings were found.
Witnesses say they were inside the funeral home when the shots were fired.
“We went out in the street and all we saw was bodies just laying everywhere. They were shot up everywhere.
“We thought it was a war out here. It’s ridiculous all the shooting that’s going on out here, it really has to stop.”
The suspect arrested by police was uninjured and it is still unclear how many attackers were involved.
The shooting comes a day after president Donald Trump ordered 175 federal agents into Chicago to disperse Black Lives Matter protests that have turned violent in recent days..
