Nigerians call out El-Rufai’s son after he thanked God for the death sentence handed to a 22-year-old singer accused of blaspheming against Prophet Mohammed
Bashir El-Rufai, the son of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, thanked God for the death sentence handed to a 22-year-old singer in Kano and this has angered Nigerians.
Reacting to the news that Yahaya Sharif-Aminu has been sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy, Bashir El-Rufai wrote: “Alhamdulillah.”
“Alhamdulillah” means “praise be to God”, sometimes translated as “thank God”.
His comment was supported by some people and got lots of likes. However, he was called out by even more people.
Following the criticisms, he wrote: “We shall never succumb to your ways of life & your interpretations thereof. In the end, we will all expire & meet the God & finally find out who was correct or mischievous. Good morning. It’s a beautiful day.”
Below are reactions to Bashir’s tweet.
