Italian Media tycoon and ex- Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, 84, hosptalized after suffering ‘heart problems’
Italian media tycoon and former Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi has been hospitalized in Monaco after suffering heart problems.
Berlusconi’s personal doctor, Alberto Zangrillo said he was hospitalised on Thursday January 14, ‘at the Cardiothoracic Hospital in Monaco for tests.’
‘He will return home within a few days’, he told AFP news agency.
Alberto said he had made an urgent visit to the former prime minister at his home in the south of France on Monday because of an irregular heart beat and decided to transfer him to a hospital.
The 84-year-old has battled multiple health issues in recent years, undergoing heart surgery in 2016 and has also survived prostate cancer.
Back in September, he was hospitalised with Covid-19 after developing double pneumonia following a visit to Sardinia. He was treated for more than a week at Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital.
On his release from hospital, the former prime minister said he had survived “the most dangerous challenge” he had ever faced.
“Each one of us is exposed to the risk of infecting others. I repeat my call for maximum responsibility from everyone,” he cautioned at the time.
Silvio Berlusconi served as Prime Minister of Italy in four governments from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006, and 2008 to 2011. He is also the owner of Mediaset, the largest media company in Italy.
