One inmate recaptured after 5, including 2 murder suspects, break out of county jail in Georgia

The U.S. police has offered a reward for the capture of four inmates still at large after five inmates escaped from a south Georgia jail on Friday, with one inmate recaptured after making it only as far as a neighboring county.

The five inmates; Tyree Williams, Tyree Mantan Jackson, Lewis Wendell Evans, Brandon Pooler, and Dennis Penix, Jr. escaped from Pulaski County Law Enforcement Center in Hawkinsville, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. All five men have “violent” histories, and two are murder suspects, the GBI said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) issued a Blue Alert after the five including two accused of murder from the Pulaski County Jail shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

Williams is charged with felony murder and home invasion in connection to an incident that happened in January 2020 in Pulaski County.

According to WMAZ, Dennis Penix, Jr. is charged in a double homicide described as “a drug deal gone wrong” in Pulaski County in 2017.

Penix allegedly killed two men in a “drug deal gone bad,” the report said. Williams’ murder charge stems from a shooting during a July 2020 home invasion.

GBI released mugshots of all five inmates and warned the public to call 911 and stay away from the men if anybody encountered them. The police also announced that one had been recaptured, offering  a reward of up to $5000.00 for information leading to the direct arrest of any of the wanted escapees.

“Tyree Williams is now in custody in Warner Robins. Police continue the search for 4 escaped inmates …” the GBI said in part Sunday evening on Twitter.

“The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $5000.00 for information leading to the direct arrest of any of the wanted escapees. #BlueAlert” the GBI went on to say in their tweet.

The escapees stole a white 2015 KIA Sedona Van with a Georgia Tag CMP8628, according to officials.
