A Kano resident, Nasiru Madobi has cried out for justice after his son Abdulkadir Nasiru who was declared wanted by the state police was beaten to death in his presence after he (Nasiru) took him to the police station.
The deceased was declared wanted by the police after being linked to a neighborhood gang fight. Madobi said his son was beaten to death with sticks by three policemen shortly after he brought him to the police station.
“A quarrel ensued when a policeman started slapping and beating him in my presence after an argument. When another officer joined the quarrel to beat him, he started retaliating.
“The situation made me leave the police station immediately as I could not stand the pain of seeing my son being beaten on a simple matter that can be resolved among parents” he said.
The distraught father said he sent his eldest son after he arrived home to plead with the police officers to stop beating his son, but they didn’t. Abdulkadir’s brother, Ahmed Nasir said the policemen continued assaulting his brother till he became unconscious with his mouth foaming. Ahmed said he was asked to pay N8,000 before being allowed to take his brother to the hospital.
