“He said his sadness is his muse” tributes pour in for UNN final year student who allegedly committed suicide after posting suicide note on Facebook
The story of Chukwuemeka Akachi, a young Nigerian poet who allegedly committed suicide after leaving a suicide note on Facebook (read here), has left web users shocked.
Akachi was a first-class final year student from the department of English and Literary studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN. He reached out on Facebook before allegedly committing suicide but he didn’t get the needed help until it was too late.
He allegedly consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance and was found by friends. He allegedly died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, where he was rushed to.
A woman claiming to be his coursemate has now revealed they didn’t just stay silent when he cried out on Facebook about his mental health. Ogey, who claims to be his classmate, commented on LIB, revealing they couldn’t help him out of his sad state because he always insisted his sorrow was his muse and he needed to be sad in order to be creative.
