Nigerian Army dismisses Boko Haram’s claim of killing 43 farmers in Borno because one of them was arrested

Nigerian Army has dismissed Boko Haram’s claim of killing 43 farmers in Borno as revenge for the arrest of one of its members.

Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche who gave an update on Thursday December 3, on the operations of the armed forces between November 26 and December 2 in Abuja, after the insurgents released a video in which they alleged that the farmers had given information of their movement in the area to the military, said the insurgents are trying to instill fear in the minds of the people because they have seen the governor is trying to make sure that people return to their homes.

Eneche said;

“The truth is that whenever they are losing ground as a result of the military activities, this is what they resort to.

“It is a fallacy because we killed one of them and that the farmers gave information about them, but the likelihood is wickedness.

“They want to use that to instill fear in the minds of the people because they have seen the governor trying to make sure that people return to their homes.

“Our message here to the general public is that they should not be discouraged and that we are moving forward and with your cooperation, we are going to end this menace.”

The Defence Spokesperson added that troops have been carrying out ground and air offensives against the insurgents who are trying to instill fear with propaganda.
