A young veterinarian whose charred remains were found on Thursday near Shadnagar town was reportedly raped and murdered by some persons who offered to help fix the tires of her scooty when she became stranded.
22-year-old Priyanka Reddy is suspected to have been killed near Tondupally toll plaza of Outer Ring Road at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad and her body was dumped and burnt 25 km away at Chatanpally bridge near Shadnagar town in Ranga Reddy district, according to Gulf News.
Authorities reportedly recovered the victim’s charred body, clothes, footwear and a liquor bottle near the toll plaza, where Priyanka Reddy had parked her scooty.
Four men have been arrested, including the main person accused Mohammed Pasha, a lorry driver.
Before the gruesome incident, Priyanka was said to have called her sister Bhavya at 9.45pm to say that her motorbike had a puncture and someone had offered to help. She reportedly said that she was feeling scared by a group of truck drivers near her. Bhavya advised her to leave the vehicle, walk to the toll and take a taxi home, but she never made it.
Priyanka’s younger sister said: ‘We lost a lot of time moving from one police station to another. Had the police acted without wasting time, at least my sister would have been alive.’
