The shocking moment a Sheriff’s deputy’s car was hit by an oncoming train was captured on the dashcam of a nearby vehicle.
The terrifying dashcam footage captures the moment a sheriff’s deputy’s car was hit by an oncoming train at a track crossing in Texas just before noon on Tuesday. The car can be seen in the footage, waiting for a train to pass. Just after the train passed, he drove forwards, unaware there was another train coming in the opposite direction and the train cleared him off the track.
According to Sheriff Gary Painter, the deputy was responding to a call of an infant having breathing issues when the accident happened long Business 20 at South County Road 1250.
The deputy was alone in his vehicle at the time of the crash. He has been taken to the hospital with minor injuries including bruising throughout his body.
As for the infant who he was going to attend to, emergency responders were able to reach the infant who has been taken to the emergency room.
DPS and the Railroad Commission will be investigating the crash.
