Suspending matches will lead to divorces – Turkish club, Trabzonspor’s President gives reason why league should continue despite coronavirus pandemic
Chairman of Trabzonspor, a top Turkish club has called for the Turkish league to continue despite the coronavirus pandemic, saying a stoppage of the league will lead to an increase in divorces.
Ahmet Agaoglu’s Trabzonspor are top of the Turkish league at the moment, but Turkish football authorities announced that matches would continue behind closed doors in Turkey until April despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Trabzonspor and former Super Eaglesplayer John Obi Mikel parted ways on Tuesday after the Nigerian player voiced his anger at the league is still being played despite the rest of Europe stopping their leagues during the pandemic.
Now Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu claims stopping football in Turkey would lead to divorces.
“If they suspend the league for a long time, in a month from now there won’t be enough judges to rule on all the divorce cases.
“We are the leaders right now. Trabzonspor should be declared champions.”
