Update: Nigerian lady advertised for sale on Facebook and 28 others on their way back to Nigeria from Lebanon

A Nigerian woman, Peace Busari, who was put up for sale on Facebook by a Lebanese man, Wael Jerro, is on her way home from Lebanon.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, disclosed this on her Twitter handle on Saturday July 11. She said 28 other Nigerians who were stranded in Lebanon due to the Coronavirus pandemic, are also on their way back to the country. Also on board is Temitope Ariwolo whose employers accused of murder and refused to let her leave the country.

“29 passengers just departed from Lebanon. And guess what? Temitope, who was left behind last time, accused of murder is on board. And so is Peace Busari, the girl who was put on sale on Facebook and rescued by the Nigerian Mission.” she tweeted

Jerro put up a post on a Facebook page – ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon’, advertising Busari with her Nigerian passport. He put a price tag of $1,000 on the Nigerian woman who is from Oyo State. Jerro has since been arrested.

Busari was rescued in April this year and has been in the custody of the Nigerian Mission in Beirut.
