Nigerian footballer David Alaba disguises himself as Santa Claus to surprises passers-by with gifts in Munich (Photos)

Bayern Munich and Austrian footballer, David Olatukunbo Alaba stormed the streets of Munich over the weekend to surprise passers-by with gifts ahead of Christmas.

The 27-year-old defender who was born in Austria to Nigerian father and Filipino mother disguised himself as Santa Claus, complete with a red and white suit, beard and glasses to give out several items including sweets and souvenir photos.

Why the action? Alaba explains: “As Santa Claus, it’s a little more relaxed to walk around the Christkindlmarkt.”
“At Christmas time you should share your joy. Even if it was just a small gesture, people and especially the children in downtown Munich were very happy. And I really had fun with it too.”

Alaba continues: “The support of our fans and followers in Munich is extremely important to us – we are happy to give something back at Christmas time.”
